Deck the Halls!!!

I have my tree up! I have my TREE up!!  I HAVE MY TREE UP!!!

Can you tell I’m excited?

After a two year haiatus, we have a Christmas Tree up in our living room!  We chose not to put one up last year, due to the facts that we had a brand new baby, and that we were traveling across the country.  I deeply regret not decorating our new house for our new baby’s first Christmas.  I felt sad and depressed that we did not have the usual holiday cheer going on inside our home.  I swore to myself that I would ALWAYS decorate in the future.  In fact, I have been having to restrain myself for the past few weeks.  I have been ready to break out the tree for several weeks now, but I was just holding out until the day after Thanksgiving.  I feel that it is my duty to not start decorating until after Turkey Day has passed, due to the greedy capitalistic bastards that roll out the Christmas Decor before Halloween is even over.  (That’s another post all-together…)

So, we hauled out the tree, the ornaments, the garland, the lights, and everything else.  I spent my day going through and sorting out everything that looked remotely breakable.  Those objects went back into storage.  After the tree was up and decorated, DH placed the angel on top and we all watched as we turned it on.  I was a happy person!!! I love having a Christmas tree in the house.  Perhaps, that it why I leave them up until mid-february, sometimes!

The baby was too precious.  She walked over (Yes, she is walking very proficiently now), and grabbed a jingle bell and started shaking the tree.  Now, we have it barracaded off with the couch, but with supervision, it was adorble.  Today, after a quick trip out of town, I hope to get the lights on the front of the house.  I bought some icecicle lights a few years back for our old house, but I’m not sure if we have enough.  I may be heading out to wally world later to see if they have any different ones.

  1. Yup, it is a good feeling to finally decorate! I swear one day the stores are just gonna start selling pumpkins with Santa hats on them. Very disturbing. Good luck on outside lights!
