WFMW: Restaurant Crayons

wfmw-banner.jpg

We eat out a whole lot, y’all. I mean tons. I have been living in this place since the 3rd week in August…and I have yet to make it to the grocery store. We are talking bare cupboards here. This means we usually spend dinner in a restaurant. Why is it that all restaurants have inferior crayons? I think that they pay less for them, so there is more wax than pigment. This means that they break very easily. Baby girl almost always ends up breaking her restaurant crayons. I decided that we should take some of our own crayons with us, as back-ups. Instead of lugging around the entire box, I found a lidded container that worked very well.

MMs Minis Containers make the perfect Crayon Holders!! I get the smaller size and it is perfect for holding 5 crayons. This means that they don’t get crushed in my bag when we are on the run. Now, I always have crayons with me! Next time I am in a chocolate kind of mood, I may just get an extra to keep in the car for those “just in case” times.

This is what is working for me! What works for you? Head on over to Rocks in My Dryer to find other tips and tricks that might just work for you too!

  1. Great idea. I acutally have a crayon container that we “bought” at Chucky Cheese for some inane amount of tickets.

  2. Oh, you are BRILLIANT! Thank you! (Plus, this is a perfect excuse to buy myself some M&M’s. No, I’m not sharing with the children.)

  3. Love it! As an added bonus if your purse accidentally gets left in the car in the summer, it will contain all the melted wax. :P

I really do love this, though, really. Our Little Prince is on a coloring kick (inspired by Blues Clues I believe) and as long as he has a notepad and a crayon he is a happy camper. Needless to say, we have carried them EVERYWHERE this summer.

Unfortunately for my car interior, they weren’t in any kind of nifty container like this. :)

    Thanks!

  4. This is a great idea! And it even results in chocolate scented crayons – a big plus in my eyes. :)

Hope you make it to the grocery store soon. Ha!

  5. Love this idea AND it is a perfect excuse to buy chocolate!

    Thanks for sharing.

  6. AWESOME! I have always kept mine in a ziplock bag, and they ended up breaking…what a clever container!!!!

  7. Ooh, what a great idea! And a great excuse to buy 3 packs of M&M’s (because the kids can’t share crayons, of course… LOL). I love it! :)

  8. That is a great idea! :)

  9. What a cute idea!!! I love it!!

  10. What a fabulous idea! This would even be great in the car to keep the wax from going everywhere when they melt! When they melt, I’d have a built-in excuse to go buy more M&M’s! Love it!

  11. I do the same thing but use a plastic lidded travel box that came free with a box of Olay Daily Facials I bought once.

When Honey left her backpack, crayons and all in the van throughout the summer I ended up with a very colorful but contained lump of wax in there.

  12. Haha! That worked for me too!
I also use them for the fountainpen-fillings. Never again books with blue spots at the end of the day.

  13. Genius! Great idea!

  14. LOVE IT! I have been using portable soap containers…I like yours better! Fewer crayons, fewer things to keep up with!

  15. great idea! I never thought of something so simple!!

  16. Great idea! I will have to buy (and eat) some M&Ms and then dig all the loose crayons out of my purse!
